I prepared this standing rib roast for my Christmas dinner this year (my first time hosting 17 guests!. It was a HUGE hit! Everyone was passing up the ham and getting seconds of the roast. I followed the recipe exactly and I wouldn't change a thing!

This year I decided to try your recipe this Christmas instead of my old one. I got Hereford beef prime rib from a local market and followed your easy to follow instructions. It came out really great. Everybody enjoyed it specially my oldest son coming from home from college who requested beef.

Best Christmas roast we've ever had. Tender and juicy. My thermometer was not accurate, so it was a bit well done, but even the outside and well done portion tasted great. Buying new thermometer tomorrow!

I served this roast at our holiday dinner party and everyone loved it. There was nothing left of the 8 pound roast and we only had 16 people. Needless to say, it was the hit of the party.

i never made a roast of anykind before and i wanted to treat my friends and family to something special for the holidays. i was worried the night was heading for disaster when my oven wouldn't preheat to 500(it barely touched 470and i had bought a 16lb. slab of prime rib. but i followed the directions to the T and i never tasted a more tender, juicy piece of steak. It sliced through like butter. I was amazed i didn't have to break out the steak knives for my guests. Thanks Ida!

The roast is fabulous but what we enjoyed for days afterward was the Horseradish Sauce that you serve with it. Great flavors and can be used as a crudite dip, for chicken or just about anything.Love Ina's show.

Exactly the way my late father who was a successful catering cook in southeastern New England made prime rib.
