I thought this dish was ok, but certainly not the greatest chicken dish I ever had. I've had a lot better ones from Ina Garten like her Perfect Roast chicken. I went out and bought a bottle of tequila for it, and then marinated it for 24 hours.

I suppose I was expecting something better from this recipe because it was listed as number 1 out of Ina's top 100 recipes when I made it. So I was expecting some kind of flavor explosion in my mouth but it turned out rather simple tasting, limey tasting which wasn't bad but wasn't amazing by all means.

I think her Perfect Roast Chicken recipe definitely deserves to be her Number 1 chicken dish, not this one!

Given the cost of good limes and tequila, this one doesn't make our favorite list.
I've made this with whole breasts with skin, and liked it well enough. So for the 4th, since some of our guests don't eat red meat, I tried it on flattened boneless breasts for grilled chicken sandwiches. Very little flavor got into the meat, and even with shortening the marinating time to five or six hours, the lime cooked the chicken more than I'd like.

I'm sorry-but, following the recipe to the letter, and allowing it to marinate overnight--it wasn't all that. It was bland and had no real taste of any of the ingredients--even the lime. And I even used some lime and orange zest in the marinade. I do like a lot of Ina's food and have been charcoal grilling for 40 years, but this one is a lame duck.

This recipe was absolutely scrumptious! Marinated for 24 hours, followed the directions exactly and it was SO MOIST and so flavorful. Making it for our Fourth of July BBQ, can't wait! I couldn't find deboned breasts with skin-on, so I just took out the bones myself. Favorite!

Excellent!! The Tequila plus the lime give it an exotic flavor. Great for entertaining.

VERY good. I made this for my husband last week and he said that this was one of his favorites so far. I love Ina Garten. She is my favorite to watch on the food network channel. A lot of her recipes have been my inspiration in my cooking at home.
