I have made these so many times. When someone tastes what a REAL marshmallow should taste like...the look on their face is priceless. They are so easy and you will impress anyone you let near them.

My step-daughters love this recipe. We've been doing this for four years. They are now 18 and 15, and we are about to make them again tonight. We even color the marshmallow, depending on the season. Tonight will be fall colors. We also use mini m&ms, dip them in chocolate, sprinkles, chocolate chips, etc. It's a lot of fun and the results are absolutely sinfully delicious. I wish we could post our pictures. I also give them to family and friends and they are wowed every time!

My friends cannot believe that I made them my self. I have also played around with this recipe and added different flavors and dipped them in chocolate.. Here are a few tips when making this recipe. If you don't like coconut or just want plain marshmallows, just put powdered sugar on the bottom of your pan and on the top of the marshmallows. When you go to put the marshmallow in the pan us a stiff rubber spatula and spray it with nonstick cooking spray, and after you get the marsmallow in the pan spray your clean hands with cooking spray to smooth it out, works better then any utensil in your kitchen.

I made this recipe and it turned out like glue, I could barely get it in the pan. What did I do wrong?

My kids only get marshmallows on very special occasions: When we do indoor camping and we have s'mores. For my daughter's birthday, I decided to make s'mores for her class. Since the office staff and teachers love my homemade brownies and chocolate chip cookies, I couldn't just bring in store bought marshmallows so I decided to give these a shot. They were FABULOUS. Directions were easy to follow, and the results were awesome. Did not have any problems w/ cutting them b/c I dipped the knife in water as suggested. Oh, my kichen aid mixer was hot, but it didn't make any odor. I put these marshmallows on graham crackers and drizzled melted chocolate over the s'mores. Love, love, love this recipe!!!

OMG these were so good. They were a little time consuming and messy. I don't have a stand mixer, so after about 10 minutes the marshmallow was coming up the beaters on my hand mixer so much it was almost touching the bottom of the mixer. I might flavor them next time or dip them in chocolate.

Loved the idea of homemade marshmallows, thought it would be difficult but it really wasn't. I followed the recipe exactly, including the full 15 minutes. My Kitchenaid Mixer was a little hot and struggling towards the end but they were not over beaten. I also thought the vanilla flavor was a little strong but I will definitely make them again with a little less vanilla. Loved the toasted coconut on the outside. Only bad thing about this recipe is it is MESSY.... my pot to make the syrup in and the stand mixer bowl were so sticky they are still soaking....also got the batter all over my hands transferring it from the bowl to the pan.. but still worth it!

Thanks again Ina, another winner. So easy to make, don't be intimidated by the candy thermometer. Made these for a dinner party, dipped in chocolate fondue, huge hit!! I will make again and again!!
