Thanks for using Mayo! A grilled cheese isn't a grilled cheese without it! I have been making them that way for decades. You can't beat a grilled cheese with homemade tomato soup

Made this recipe and saw the episode on TV, but there was no mention of salt and pepper so I omitted it, and it turned out fine. The cheese usually has enough salt in it, along with the bacon. I agree with other users adding the salt would have made it way too salty.

I followed the recipe exactly as shown, and the grilled cheese sandwiches came out amazing! I splurged and bought nice gruyere and vermont white cheddar cheese and I was not disappointed!

I made this recipe two times. Once as directed, the 2nd - less salt, on a croissant with a local grocer Jalapeno Bacon. Ding Ding Ding...that was the ticket. I served at a ladies back to school lunch and they all went nuts over this refined grilled cheese. The buttery croissant with spicy bacon on melted cheese and the spread - magnificant!

Awesome sandwich. Used spicy brown mustard, but it tastes similar. The spread seems like too much in my opinion.

Instead of the mayo and mustard, I used a pesto. spread lightly. Not a huge mayo fan. You just cannot go wrong with cheese. nice with a good pinot noir.

It was very good all though it had to much salt in the mayo dressing and took away from the taste of the mayo.

Absolutely loved it! We will probably add a slice of tomato and a slice of onion to the sandwich sometimes to change it up. We'll make it with soup too.

It's OK. But I like the grilled cheese I'm used to. This sandwich seems to be a Hampton thing.
