This recipe is so easy, simple, and delicious. I was shocked at how great this turned out, because there are so few ingredients and prep work!

This is a wonderful recipe! I'm not a great cook, so I was previewing the recipe in advance of a dinner party next weekend. Wow! Intense flavor and beautiful presentation. I followed the recipe except for using dried thyme instead of fresh. Marvelous!

One of our favorite dishes to make! It's beautiful to look at, too.

This dish was very easy to make and very beautiful on our Christmas table. Because we had a few other potato dishes, I substituted summer squash for the potatoes. It was delicious-- my meat and potato loving family did not leave a bite. Thanks Ina!

I have made this several times now and the results are always delish. The only "change" is that I make MORE onions to ensure a nice thick layer.....I can always use the extras somewhere else if nec. I served this to a potato loving friend with BBQ'd steaks........he asked if that was ALL there was ( ie where was the big bowl of "something" potatoes? Then he tried some ( and yes...there are potatoes in there with the veg! and there was NOTHING left by the end. It works with so many entrees and is particularly nice in the late summer / fall.

What a wonderful recipe! I served it Thanksgiving week along with one of Ina's roasted turkey recipes, and her cranberry sauce she's been making for years! I never like to invite anyone to dinner unless I have tried the recipes first! Unbeknownst to me, my fiance invited the neighbors next door for dinner and when we all sat down to eat, my vegetable tian was the hit of the table! It looked beautiful and was also delicious. No leftovers here! BTW, this is my first time ever rating a recipe. Thanks, Ina. You're the best and my favorite chef! I watch you on TV all the time and have all your fabulous cookbooks. Because of you, I have become a better cook! My fiance loves my cooking!

Fantastic recipe. I substituted sweet potatoes for the potato and Parmigiano Reggiano for the Gruyère; otherwise, all other ingredients the same. Yummy, yummy, yummy. Ina has the best recipes ever; they're fun, beautifully appealing to the eye and super delicious. RDM
