Used 1/2 zucchini & 1/2 yellow squash. Absolutely delish! I could make a meal on this alone!

I LOVE this recipe! I've been making it once a week due to the abundance of zucchini in the garden. I've added a layer of thinly sliced tomatoes (slightly overlapping each otheron top of the zucchini before adding the cheese/breadcrumb mixture. I've been using Panko instead of fresh breadcrumbs because it's on hand. On occasion, if I have fresh basil, I have juliened it and sprinkled it over the tomato slices before adding the cheese/breadcrumb mixture. As always, thank you Ina, you are my favorite Food Network chef!

This is quite delicious. I made it exactly per the recipe. The only thing I might change next time would be to reduce the butter some. There is an awfully lot of butter in it! I'd start with 2-3 Tablespoons to cook the onions in and see if that was enough to keep them from browning or burning. Mine got transluscent, but they didn't carmelize. Doing this you'd have 3-4 tablespoons of butter for 8 servings after dotting the top, which is plenty, in my book, as much as I love butter!

I absolutely love this Gratin recipe. I use both zucchini and yellow squash. Sometimes I add red pepper too, which turns it into a veggie gratin. I substitute Peppridge Farm stuffing for the bread crumbs. The recipe is great how it is but it also works as a great base to work with and make personal changes of veggies, cheese and toppings. It is a fast favorite in my family and for Church potlucks!

A bit over the top. Julia Child's is so much better and while a little more time consuming, worth 5 stars.

Just as easy and delicious as it sounds - don't go too heavy on the nutmeg however.

Delicious! Ina is one of my most favorite chefs. Of course I played with the recipe, because I can't help myself. Added some pancetta, red pepper flakes, mixed the gruyere in with the zucchini and yellow squash, and used parmesean with panko bread crumbs for the topping! Every one LOVED it. Even my kids! I will makes this again and again.

Marvelous! So simple and yet so sophisticated. I used panko bread crumbs, nice crispy topping. Pair with a simple grilled fish.
