This was great but a little too runny. I would use cream instead of milk next time. Also, much less salt. I used fresh whole wheat bread crumbs that I ground in the food processor.

Made this recipe for a sick friend with cornish hens. I didn't have Gruyere, so I subsituted Peccorino. Also used homemade croutons grouned up for the breadcrumbs. Really delicious! Will definitely make again.

I usually love Ina's recipes and I especially thought this would be great, but I did not like it at all. I'm not a big nutmeg fan so I should have just omitted this spice. I hate it! I also thought the breadcrumbs took away from the cheese. If I decided to give it another try I would not use those items. I'm sure it's a personal preference. I still love her show and her recipes:

What a great dish, I've used few Tbs of EVOO and 1Tbs of butter, I've carmelized the onions and instead of butter on top I've drizzled some EVOO, it came out great and much healthier.

The best I've ever had! I also substituted spinach and had the same perfect, melt in your mouth results.

Loved this one - Ina delivers yet again. Make it exactly as directed, and you'll have a side dish you'll want to make again and again.
