We have made this recipe more than a dozen times now, because it is so well received by friends and family. The sweet corn muffin topping melds perfectly with the slightly spicy meat filling. We have tried it with several modifications, too, including black beans and a mix of beans but the original is always stellar. I recently introduced this to co-workers and every single person asked for seconds and the recipe. The latter request could easily be met, thanks to the great Food Network site; unfortunately, the former request could not be met, as there were no leftovers for seconds!

The only caveat to those who do not like spicy food, this dish has some bite, so it is not for the faint of heart. The recipe is easy to make and if the dish actually makes it to the next day, the leftovers reheat well.

We love hot food, but this was too much. The corn bread was too sweet, Would not make again and as much as I love leftovers, this will be pitched out

This was so easy to make and so delicious that we had seconds!! I had read all of the reviews and decided to just make it the way the recipe read and it was perfect.

Easy, healthful, and delicious. Definitely a keeper.

(Just make sure to add a teaspoon of salt to the mixture

I made this and only changed a couple of things after reading comments. I used black beans, red and orange peppers - chopped them very fine (my husband doesn't like any type of pepper and baked it in a 10x7 pan. It was very yummy and even my husband who doesn't like anything "hot" loved it. I really think making it without the cornbread topping would make an excellent hot dip for chips! I will make this again.

I made this last night and both my husband and I absolutey loved it. The leftovers reheated beautifully. The only substitutions that I made were a 1/2 tsp of garlic powder in place of the fresh garlic and a red bell pepper in place of the green pepper. Fan-tab-u-lous!

I used Marie Callendar's corn bread mix for this recipe. It turned out sweet and yummy. I loved the taste of the chipotle in adobo sauce.

My hubby and 19 month old son loved this! It's so easy to make too. This is the first recipe I've tried from Ingrid Hoffman and will look for more to make!

Well, my kids turned up their noses just at the sight of it, and after one bite, stubbornly refused to try anymore. I enjoyed mine, although it was not a favorite and will probably not make it again. I prefer my tamales on the sweet/savory side (my mom used to make a standard Venezuelan recipe with ground beef and raisins, and will try to find a healthy version of that.
