I suppose for a quick 30 minute meal it's not bad. Add a can of tomatoe sauce, and beef broth. This recipe is far from an authentic Cuban Ropa Vieja which takes a few hours.

and very good except that it forgets to tell you that the beef (flank or skirt has to be boiled first, and almost tender and then shredded hence the name Ropa Vieja (old shredded clothes. The consume from the boiling should be used when adding the meat to the vegetables and added as needed.
Other than that one of the better recepis on here for Cuban food

Living in Los Angeles I have been able to enjoy Cuban food at various restaurants. This recipe is unbelievably good and tastes like something delectable from your favorite Cuban restaurant. I knew this recipe came from Gloria Estefan's restaurant in Florida so I need it had to be decent at least. It was extremely easy to prepare and creating side dishes for this meal was very simple. As the dish was simmering, I found it necessary to add a few spices to it (coarse salt, seasoned pepper and fresh ground pepper and I let it simmer with a lid on the pot the entire time. Then I simply made instant white rice and used 1 can of Black whole beans. The white rice goes great with black beans.

From a viewer who looks for recipes that others have "tried", giving a one star rating that skews the overall rating without even making the recipe is unfair to us all. This recipe was a fine version of a recipe that could take hours to prepare. Remember, this is 30 minute meals!
