Made this tonight, my company loved it. I love trying new chili recipes and this is one I'll definitely make again. After reading the reviews I decided to you hot italian sausage and I love tomatoes so I added one extra 14 1/2 ounce can of dice tomatoes. Overall excellent!!!

The first time I prepared this I would have rated it 3 or 4 stars. The second time I made a couple of simple changes that brought it to 5-star status. First, I used fire-roasted tomatoes; second, I used only about 3/16 of a cup of chili powder; finally, I added about 1 teaspoon McCormick/Schilling chili seasoning from the packet (1/4 teaspoon at a time, to taste. The original version was okay but did not taste like chili to me. Adding the whole quarter cup of chili powder only made it hotter, not better! The changes did the trick!

This is the only chili recipe I will make. After years of experimenting with my own recipes and trying other recipes, I have finally find the ONE! And this is it! I use quality beef, sausage and of course tomatoes and it comes out delicious every time. I also use Penzeys chili 3000 seasoning (can be ordered on their website. No wonder its called award winning chili. This is awesome!!!!!!

Awsome! Best chili I ever made. A little hot for my family, but next time I will drop in a few serranos to heat it up for myself. When they are out of town that is ;-

Hi Jamie, I have used a similiar recipe for years but use a hot gunnoes sausage and different peppers. I make it for our chili cook off at work and have won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places through the years. It is definately a great recipe.

This recipe is not only delicious, but also incredibly easy. My culinary skills are mediocre at best, and I was able to whip this together with no problems. The only thing I would do differently next time is add more chili pepper, or put some spicy peppers in alongside the bell peppers — this chili could use more spice.

Very easy and after reading the reviews, I was able to doctor this basic recipe up with great results: seasoned meat with sea salt and fresh cracked pepper, Instead of oregano, I used Mexican Oregano. Only used 1 can of kidney beans, added 2 habaneros (de-seeded, added a splash of fish sauce and cooked in crock pot on high for 2 hrs (after browing meat and aromatics, then reduced heat to low to let the flavors blend. Definitely not bland anymore.

I, too, thought it was blah. With all that work I was expecting something more. It was bland..Hormel would've tasted better..Sorry, Jamie, I love your show but the chili didn't have enough flavor. Had to use more salt and Frank's Hot Sauce to make up for it.

My family thought this chili was very "blah"; it didn't stand out in any way from other chili recipes. It was edible but nothing special

Best chili recipe I've ever tried. All my life, I've wanted a good one that I can work with and be proud to serve to family and friends. This one is what I'll stick with from now on. 10 stars on a 5 star scale. :
