I loved this recipe but agree with the other reviewers that it lacked kick. I might try using spicy Italian sausage next time. Also, there's no salt listed in the recipe. I added it to taste.

I love this recipe. I have made it before and I pondered today trying 1 small can of the fire roasted tomatoes, but didn't. Maybe next time...

Cooked meat and all ingrediants up to the beer in a skillet. Added it to a crockpot with the beans and diced tomatos, cooked 6 hours on high. From a texture standpoint and flavor standpoint, one of the best chili's I have tasted. It needs a little more pow, so I will use fire roasted tomatos for the small can. I gave a few friend chili lovers a sample and the reviews were the same as mine. I am going to enter it in a local chili cookoff using the fire roasted tomatos

This recipe is THE BOMB!! Was looking for a new chili recipe and came across this one, which is my first Jamie Deen recipe. I was unsure about the beer so I poured in a Guinness. And I added a chopped jalapeno, a dash of smoked paprika and some cayenne pepper for a little more kick, but followed the rest of the recipe to a T. The end consistency was more liquid-y than the other recipes I've tried, but my goodness - it tastes the BEST!
And it's super easy to make. And it makes A LOT.
I will be using this recipe from now on and will tell everyone it's Jamie Deen's chili! Thank you!

Hands down the best chili I have ever had (sorry Grandma! To keep with family recipe, I substitued tomato sauce for the 28oz can of diced. I was also hesitant to use sausage, but it was a great addition. We like it spicy so I added some cayenne and a jalepeno. Crumble in some corn bread and comfort in a bowl!
