Neither sweet or moist. Waste of ingredients and time.

We loved this cake. It my son's favorite. I too had the problem of it falling a little in the middle each time I have made it. I wonder if it is altitude. My aunt makes a wonderful lemon cake (she lives in CA hers never falls, mine does - UT; she made it one time she was here to visit and it fell.

I have made this recipe twice. First time cake rose beautifully, but when cooling it fell in the middle. Cake was dry. I made the cakes in an 8 inch pan. Second time I made it, I watched the time as I think 30 minutes is too long. One of the cakes fell in the middle. I am not sure why. My icing turned out to be the color of mocha and not dark rich chocolate. I had to add more 4x sugar as it was a bit runny and after adding more 4x sugar it did not firm up as normal icing does. The second time I made it, I did melt butter and took off stove and then melted chocolate and put in a bowl to beat. I would suggest sifting your 4x sugar to make a smoother icing. Would like to know why my icing was not a dark chocolate color. Maybe decreasing the sour cream would help. Comments and suggestions welcome. Cake looked great on the show!

My baking has always been terrible but this cake turned out to perfection! I was so happy at the end result. I did however find the frosting to be a little too rich for my taste buds but the husband loved it. Definitely will be whipping this up again!

Awesome cake!!!!!! the frosting was fabulous...let me just say that the cake was very moist not too sweet at all, and for the frosting...well I think the sour cream made it just right..so it would not be too sweet.I baked it in a 13x9 bake pan and it turned out great...I'm glad I made this cake...I know for sure that is going to be my favorite frosting from now on anyway!!!
