Was so looking forward to this. Don't know what happened but very dry and when I tried to get it out of the pan it just crumbled. Impossible to frost. However, the frosting was good.

Very disappointed! The cake was crumbly & dry..and the icing... I made 1 1/2 times the icing to frost a 2 layer cake and barely had any left. The consistency of the icing was way too soft even after cooling for 45 minutes. I had to add an additional 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar and even then when I was frosting the cake (which was completely cooled the cake was sliding. Supposed to take this to a birthday celebration..and extremely disappointed and frustrated.. I might be stopping and buying a cake.. what a complete waste of ingredients and time...

Very easy to make. I'm a big Dark Chocolate fan so I substituted Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate cocoa powder for regular cocoa powder and Dark chocolate baking chocolate for baking chocolate as well. LOL! Make it "Heart Healthy with the antioxidants!" Also, the calories don't count if your standing up when you eat it.

Excellent recipe and I knew it would be good as its similar to an old Texas sheet cake recipe of mine. The 30 minute time is too long in my opinion. If you are not a baker you might just bake it 30 minutes without checking. Some ovens only need 22 min for 9" cakes. On the show that Jamie baked this cake, he said to bake it for much longer than 30 min so that could be another reason it was dry for some of you.

Easy and delicious with intense chocolate flavor and a nice little tang from the buttermilk. Definitely a new favorite for our family dinners!
