The twice a year that i can get fresh cranberry beans at the local market, I make this dish. It's a really nice vegetarian lunch.

An excellent recipe that although takes time, is very easy and flavorful. I am teaching my college age kids who are vegetarian the financial benefits of eating lost cost, high protein, healthy foods and this is winner!

They were just okay. I followed the directions exactly to see how they would come out without any fussing. The flavor of bay leaf was very strong in the finished dish, as was the olive oil. I did like the mashed potato and how it gave some texture to the bean liquid. Other than that, not too impressed.

Easy with outstanding flavor....cooking the beans after soaking will maintain the flavor of the herbs and aromatics as cooking times will shorten. Thickening the bean juice/gravey along with adding vinegar and oil makes for a meaty experience. These go great with salmon and shrimp in addition to the scallops he mentions.

Jamie you did it again. You are probably my favorite host. Your emphasis on flavor combinations is right on. I was out of a couple items for this recipe, namely the bay leaves and celery. Oh and I left the rosemary and thyme in. My rosemary is not on the stick. Maybe next time I'll use a little tied up cheescloth bag. I'm a vegetarian and I really appreciate your vegetarian dishes. Keep them coming.

Wonderful! I added a couple of ingredients (to make it my own 1/2 of an onion (diced and a 1/2" slice of smoked hog jowl. It was so awesome -my kids even liked it! Way to go Jamie!

This is a great recipe for beans. I eat lots of beans and this is a simple yet flavorful way to cook them. I even tried this recipe a second time with pinto beans and they were very good too.

I tried this and it was delicious. Easy to prepare too.
Really like the humble way Jamie presents this recipe to us viewers and the liberal use of herbs.
I am jealous of Jamie on account of his lovely garden!

I just watched this show again and noticed the differences between what Jamie did and the way this recipe is written. It seems Food Network messes up the recipes more often than not. I truly don't understand why they can't get it right!!!

1- I'm pretty sure Jamie also included a sprig or two of savory in with the other herbs.

2- Instead of tossing all the herbs in the pot willy-nilly, the way this recipe is written, Jamie bundled them all up with string as a bouquet garni so that they were easy to remove at the end.

3- ALSO, Jamie threw in an entire small head of garlic instead of the 3 cloves this recipe calls for. Then, after everything finished cooking, he squeezed the garlic out of the head and added that to the potato and tomato, mashing it all up before adding it back into the beans.

You know, Food Network, if whoever is typing out these recipes can't get it right, I'm looking for a job!
