I did not like this recipe at all. The soup had a very gritty feel to it due to the carrots. It was like eating soup with sand in it.

This recipe was a hit with my family! I followed the recipe exactly, except I ended up adding too much beer. My husband, a beer fanatic, loved the additional beer, but I will leave it out next time. We have tried other beer cheese soups and none of them have come close to this one. Absolutely delicious! I hesitated when it came time to buy the gruyere, but I'm so glad I splurged. It added a wonderful flavor! Will definitely make this again!

This is a good beer cheese soup! Living in Minnesota and frequenting Wisconsin a lot, this is one of the best soups that I have had. A little twist that Minnesotans use instead of the Garlic Crostoni (which was awesome, by the way is plain air popped popcorn. Delish and perfect for tailgating!

Amazing flavor. Really different from other Beer Cheese Soup's I've had. Could eat buckets full. Love the Crostini too. Perfect accompaniment.

A chilly day and this soup fit the bill! Delicious and satisfying. And Jeff is a crack-up... I never fail to laugh out loud watching his show.

This was very tasty I used a NewCastle Wearwolf Ale and it was great with A rosemary olive oil bread. And A nice Red wine.

Yummy! The gruyere makes it rich but not in an overpowering way. I used new castle ale. I used 4 tbsp. of flour to make it thicker. This is the best beer cheese soup we've had!

First, I wanted to point out that on the show Jeff says to use a pale LAGER beer and Pabst Blue Ribbon listed as an example in the recipe online is a LAGER, but the recipe online says a pale ALE. I used a pale ale, and enjoyed the soup quite a bit, but perhaps a lager would have been even better? Good soup, and I would suggest splurging for the gruyere even though it is a bit expensive. I do not like beer and I enjoyed this recipe a lot so don't be afraid to try it.

Made this recipe on friday for me and my boyfriend and we both LOVED it! From someone who does not like beer, I was surprised to enjoy this as much as my beer loving boyfriend did. Awesome job Jeff!! Looking forward to more of your delicious recipes!! :D

Tasty! Do use non-fancy beer as suggested - I only had micro brews on hand and next time I would go with a more mild beer. Will definitely make this again.
