I have made this several times - with rave reviews each time. The depth of flavors are delicious and not just one note coming through. I have learned to cut back on the salt a bit but otherwise make it just the same. It is delicious and my family love it!! For the Hot Giardinero, I made it the first time (which was time consuming and then happend to think I might could get it at the store. Same great taste but so much easier.
Go Jeff! We're cheering for your success!

This was delicious. I cheated and made the meat in my pressure cooker (which does have a browning setting. I also cut down on the red pepper flakes, because it just looked like way too much. Glad I did. It was plenty spicy with half as much.
Also, I loved the method of roasting the green peppers. I will use that recipe from now on.

This recipe is perfect. It's easy to follow and the results turned out perfectly! Our sandwiches are picture perfect and the flavor is true to Chicago style Italian beef taste. Perfect!

Made this over the weekend, my family loved it! The recipe was perfect and the flavors were spot on. Skipped the green peppers, but added the Hot Giardinara and provolone to make the best sandwich I have ever made!

It was sooooooooooo awesome that I am starting a Chicago Hot dog, Gyro, and beef stand in South Florida. Thanks Jeff for reminding me how good the food is back home. I miss it, and I am going to share it with South Florida. Lucky bastards!

My kids and I watched "The Next Foodnetwork Star" together, so it was fun to watch Jeff in action then try out his recipes. I have to say, it was thee best Italian Beef sandwich I have ever made. It was incredible! Loved how easy it was to prepare (although a little putsy having to turn the meat every half hour, the spice, the juiciness, the flavor - awesome. So happy to have this recipe!
In response to another post, yes, the beef should be covered while cooking it in the oven. Try it again, it's worth it!
