I made this for dinner last night and the flavors were very good. The jus was great-my husband loved it. However, the meat was surprisingly a little bit dry. I don't know how since it was cooking in atleast an inch or so of broth, it was covered, and I kept flipping it. That's ok though, the flavors were great and it was easy to make. The nice thing is that we have enough left over to use for another dinner later in the week. I will definitely try it again although next time I might go for the crock pot method since it doesn't usually yield dry meat.

Invited friends to try it with us and it was a HUGE hit! VERY good sandwich. Now if only I could find a really good bakery close by...

I have to say this was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Each bite was an explosion of flavor! It had a little spicy kick to it which was great. Jeff you sure know what you are doing! My husband made this for us. Like a previous reviewer, we also had no au jus left, but I had a packet mix of au jus that I mixed in with the drippings and it was wonderful. The roast is soooo yummy on its own, but the Giardiniera takes it over the top. Make this exactly as Jeff recommends, you will not be disappointed.

OK, whatever I did wrong did nothing to effect the flavor of this dish. It may not have had au jus but it was the best damned pot roast sandwich EVER. I ate so much of it while building the sandwiches that I wasn't hungry after I broiled them with the cheese on top. Sosososososo yummy. I'd still like to know what I did wrong though.

What did I do wrong? There was no braising liquid left to make the au jus with! Was it supposed to be covered? (the directions don't say to cover it I'm so sad because I really wanted to love this! Oh well, I'll just melt some cheese on top and call it a roast beef sandwich and be glad I tried something new.

This receipe is fantastic. My family loved it. We enjoy watching Jeff. His friendliness, simplicity and great sense of humor makes him a winner to us. We think the Food Network could utilize his many talents in other shows. How about some night time shows featuring Jeff.
    Thanks,
    Linn

This was delicious. I followed the recipe exactly. When we finished licking our fingers and relishing the last bites, I said, "I'm going to get on line and rate this recipe 5 stars!". My husband said, "you should give him six stars and a happy face!". We loved it. I'm looking forward to more from the Sandwich King!!!

Thisd sandwich was amazing!! we shared this recipe with friends, and we all stood around a big pot of jus dipping our big sandwiches in it. The giardinara really went well with it, and was worth the effort. I think it would be lacking without it. Can't wait to try more of your recipes!

D E L I C I O U S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I made a 1 lb section of the beef to do a "test run" for my husband and kids and it was great! BIG HIT. The au jus really made it good. I also added red peppers, green peppers, and a hot pepper (just for a little extra heat and onions to bake to put on the the sandwich.

I will be making the full 4+/- lb this weekend :
