I was faculty in the theater dept. when Jeff was a student at the same university, but I am so glad he didn't set his heart on acting. This meal truly was fit for a king. Pot roast describes this to the letter. The meat is soooo moist & the juices with a little kick of pepper I enjoyed sopping up with a bit of bread long after the meat had been devoured. A++!

This was great and simple to make! Will be making this for our next get together with family and friends.
I LOVE sandwiches! They are my go to meal. I eat a sandwich just about every other day for the past 20 years. I have waited a long time for a show all about sandwiches and Jeff could not be a better cheif for the job! All through The Next Network Star show I was cheering for Jeff! He had that star chef style the whole time. Please don't change a thing. I will be watching ever Sunday and can't wait for more fantastic sandwich reciepes to try.

OMG DELICIOUS! I doubled the recipe b/c I had a few extra guests stopping by - they ended up not staying for dinner but my husband and son ended up eating double the amount they normally eat! I ate my portion with a knife and fork b/c the au jus was so fantastic that I drenched the bread with it. We couldn’t get enough of it! This is now a family favorite. Thanks for introducing us to a sandwich as a meal!

~A~W~E~S~O~M~E~ I made this dish last night and invited friends and their 10-yr old daughter over. Her dad ate two(! sandwiches!!! The meat was juicy and succulent and flavored perfectly! For the roasted veggies, I used both bell peppers and onions and roasted them at 450 degrees F. They cooked faster and came out fabulous. I didn't use the hot giardinara but used horseradish sauce instead. I used our outdoor grill to toast the hoagie rolls and then melted sharp provolone. I didn't know where to get a Chicago-style steak sandwich in Tampa...now I do...MY house :D

So glad you won so I can make recipes like this. I am a novice cook but not a novice eater and this was awesome. I couldn't stop eating it so much for leftovers. I double dunked and made a real mess of myself thank goodness for the roll of paper towels. I usually don't eat the green peppers but I couldn't imagine this mealwich without them. Thank you Jeff and congrats on your win you are making me a bigger fan.

This was the best roast I have ever cooked- moist and tender... and the best beef sandwich I have ever tasted. The flavor was out of this world. I only made a small roast, so I am going to use the left over au jus tomorrow to make soup. And next time, I'm going to cook the full size roast!
I can't wait to try the steakhouse sammy next weekend.

Really tasty; my whole family loved it! I've used both beef chuck and top round, and it's turned out great either way. Besides using it in sandwiches, it's been fantastic as a straight up pot roast (potatoes and carrots added, where I transfered it to a crockpot instead of using a Dutch oven.

A decent pot roast, but the blandest Italian style beef I've ever tasted. This might pass as Cedar Rapids Italian roast beef, but it would be run out of Chicago.

Made these for our football game watch. My Chicago-born husband loved them and thought they were great for a homemade Italian Beef sandwich. He thought it would be better to have made more "juice" for an easier dip and more heat to the Giardinara. Thanks Jeff for helping me to look like a super star on game day!
