Jeff Mauro IS the Sandwich King! What a delicious technique for increasing the surface area to get more of the crispy exterior! Couldn't get veal so I increased the beef as directed. Tender, delicious and very filling. This was a knife and fork sandwich for sure. Excellent way to use my leftover giardinara from Jeff's Chicago Italian Beef recipe (the BEST... Be sure to make this one too.

I combined the fried egg plant with the meatball patty. I made the hot Giardiniera and put my own marinara on top and it was so good!

Delicious. Like you stated on the episode; the meatballs are puffy and tender. I live a couple hours from Chicago and you've got the tastes down. Seriously, you can make a sandwich any day at my house.

What a nice thing to hear, when you're 4 children and husband ALL say "THIS IS THE BEST Mom." Havent heard that in a super long time. Thank You, Jeff.

Saw him make this and knew I had to try it. It was awesome! I didn't make the hot relish stuff, bought from the store but it wasn't hot it was pickled and it was still great. Keeping this recipe and will try the eggplant sandwich next.

My boyfriend and I saw your show this morning with this sandwich. We did a variation on it. We used ground turkey and italian sausage. We used all other ingredients in your recipe and did it on a griddle. It was the best sandwich that we have ever had.

Out of the ball park, Jeff! My family loves anything meatball but a sandwich with Italian cheeses
    and ciabatta bread? Heaven!
