I thought they were easy to make. I didn't think they were bland I thought they were a little on the salty side. I am going to try them again but this time using unsalted butter and see how they turn out this time.

Love, love, love this recipe, I have never been able to make homemade biscuits but these were so easy and tasty. I have already made these twice in a week and will be making them again and again. So glad you won foodnetwork star because otherwise I would never have this recipe. Can't wait to see what else you do.

I just took these out of the oven, and, OM MY GOSH, they are so good. Really easy to make. I did not have self-rising flour, but went to another cookbook to get the formula to make it, which is 1 abd 1/2 tsp. of baking powder and 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. of salt in a cup measure, then add flour. I'm really forward to more recipes from Jeff. Last week when I watched the show I thought to myself.....a really good refreshing show and great personality.

OMG - these were fantastic, and were as good as the ones my mother made when we were growing up. Having been raised in the south, she didn't follow a recipe to pass on, however, so this is an amazing gift to my sister and I. Thank you Jeff (and of course, your mother-in-law for sharing!. My sister and I are contemplating all the possibilities, and they are endless. (YUMMMYYY - great with homemade jam, by the way.

I thought these were the best biscuit ever!! I did add salt and pepper to my recipe. Mine were a bit on the large side and took a bit longer to cook, but when they came out of the oven -- yummy! My husband wasn't a fan of the crispy bottom, but that was my favorite part!
From some one who grew up in Oak Park, Jeff, I think you're a great addition to Food Network! The midwest needed to be represented, and the culinary world needs to know there's life outside of New York, California and Georgia! Yahoo!!

Oh my goodness! How wonderful! I am a Southerner and make biscuits on occasions. I watched my taped Sandwich King episode last night and rushed to the store to get buttermilk to make these tonight. They were perfect. Crispy, flaky, soft, flavorful, and just great. My 3 year old gobbled them up. This is my new biscuit recipe.

These were just wonderful. I have not been able to make a good biscuit before this.
I did the whole menu and waited for the applause. I got it from all my guests.
I have always loved the idea of sandwiches for a dinner. Great job Jeff.
