My first time making anything with lamb and I'm in love ; I had to grind my own since the commissary didn't have ground (and who knew...they have no meat grinder! my food processor did the job well! Im so happy Jeff won Food Network star so I could experience this awesome sandwich!

Simply delicious! I made this as a salad rather than a pita and it was terrific! Yum, yum, yum!! Thanks Jeff :

I just made the Greek Tacos and since we are a family of two and my husband won't try lamb, I modified the recipe: I used .98lbs of ground lamb. I added some marjoram and dried thyme leaves to the lamb while  cooking it (btw, I really let it go to get very browned bits. I had some chopped white onions from the freezer. I seasoned the onions with s/p and oregano. I added the minced garlic (from a jar, I didn't have tomato paste or red wine, so I deglazed with some lemon juice. By overcooking the onions, the sweetness I would have gotten from the browned tomato paste, I obtained by caramelizing the onions. I only had a French bread roll for bread, so I sliced it in half, dug out the bread  from one side and oiled and toasted it in the toaster. I don't eat tomatoes, so I skipped the relish. I can't imagine this meal without lemon juice, marjoram and thyme! I had perfect flavor and I am very grateful for the bones of this recipe.

Not a fan. I cooked the meal just as suggested with all the correct seasonings and toppings. I found it a bit bland. I will not be making this again!!

i make a lot of recipes from the food network, but never felt compelled to review one until i made these. Loved this. Added a little more mint to the sauce and added some to the relish, added more garlic to the lamb....this recipe was easy to make. never thought i would be able to replicate that gyro flavor at home, but this recipe did it. My 2 year old wouldn't stop eating the lamb mixture....amazing stuff, Jeff, keep it up!!

This recipe is easy, quick, and absolutely delicious! The only change I made was adding a squeeze of lemon juice to the tzatziki for a little acidity. Other than that, I followed the recipe exactly- it was perfect. Jeff- I am so glad you won! You are really entertaining and I enjoy watching your show! Congrats!

I just made this tonight for my ladies supper club. We all agreed it was great. Everyone wants the recipe and it was decided that it could be an 'any night' meal. I followed the recipe exactly though I was tempted to add more garlic to the tsaziki. I didn't and am glad. When added to the overall dish, it was perfect. More garlic could have overpowered the rest of the flavors. Excellent!

make it! We have a Greek bistro that I go to sometime to get the gyro, this beat theirs! And, I know what is in mine. The flavors were spot on to say the least! The only change I made was using another recipe I had for tsaziki. I am not a fan of mint. Next time when I'm not in as much of a hurry I'll try Jeff's and sub the mint for something else. Jeff, keep em coming! Food network made the right choice for sure! Liked Vic too though, you guys should get a show where you travel around finding unique foods or something.

Fabulous recipe! I did add extra oregano, and thyme and marjoram to the meat mixture. But followed the 'rest' of the recipe to the 'T'. LOVED IT! Thanks Jeff! Looking forward to further recipes! Congrats to you!
