Really enjoyed this season's Food Network Star - and so glad Jeff won! I had friends over and made this recipe... and what a hit! I ended up slicing the sandwich into bite sizes and went through them really fast. I was curious about the fig sauce - but happy with the combination of flavors. Love that there were minimal ingredients and easy to make!

Just printed out this recipe after watching the show -- can't wait to try it! I love the show so far. We watched Food Network Star and were rooting for Jeff (not just because we're from Chicago! Seeing his show now, he's so down to earth, and the way he presents food and preparation is so accessible -- especially for someone like me who doesn't cook at all. He's inspired me to try making something. And it's realistic food -- something my family and I will actually eat.

Absolutely amazing!!!! My husband and I were both rooting for you the entire season....congrats on all that you have accomplished. This sandwich was such a treat, I never liked figs but you just showed me a new way to eat and I LOVE it!!! Keep the sandwiches coming

My hubby liked it, and he is one picky eater!! one of my 3 kids thought it was great (the more adventurous one, one thought it was OK, and one didn't really care for it. I thought it had great flavor, just a little TOO figgy for me.

I LOVE Jeff. I had no doubts this would be delicious. Made this sandwich last night for dinner and am eating it right now again for lunch. I can't wait to make it for my boyfriend! Super super easy. I went light on the Mortadella though, it was a little too much to use a whole 4oz on one sandwich for me. But if you are a big mortadella fan, you'll wanna use all 4oz, YUM!

OMG!!!!great! made it next day...the guys and women loved it. I cut them a little smaller for finger size for game time for Chicago Bears (don't ask. So fun to watch too. Love this guy! My college son watched with me and we are hooked. Need more ideas for game days!
Can't wait for next show!

Watched your show yesterday, went and made a sandwich today... It was a hit with the family. Got to use some ingredients I wouldnt normally use - mortadella, figs, and balsamic vinegar (normally dont cook with it, just use it on salads. Keep the sandwiches coming...Congratulations on winning this season.
