Best grilled cheese sandwich! I did modify a bit - used Havarti as I couldn't find sliced Manchego near me, cut down on the butter, and increased the chili pepper (just my preference. Also love the crunch the almond provides!

This was unbelievably delicious! I used crispy turkey bacon for the "crunch factor" instead of the almonds & it was perfect! Will definitely be making it again...Thanks Jeff, your show is fantastic! are so lucky to have a show about my favorite type of food.. the sandwich! Thank you!

This is a fantastic sandwich, even better with some crisp turkey bacon added to the sandwich.

This was one of the best combinations of flavors in a sandwich I've ever had. Absolutely delicious!!! Perfect for a chilly fall night.

Unbelievably delicious! It took rather long to prepare everything but it was definitely worth it. I asked the deli to slice me 8 slices of manchego which worked out to $1/slice so not that pricey. However, for 8 slices (what is required is it definitely a lot less than 1lb worth. All 5 of us who had the sandwiches absolutely loved them. The flavor was delightful and addictive. I will definitely make again.

One of the best ever! Had them last night for dinner because they are that worthy! We couldn't afford the whole lb of Manchego, so we took Jeff's advice from this month's magazine and used Swiss for half. Although the two cheeses are different in their natural state, once melted you couldn't tell the difference. We will go all Swiss from now on. We can't believe how these flavors meld so perfectly. We added ham to the meat eaters sammy's and it was a hit! Bravo, Sandwich King!

Definitely one of the BEST vegetarian sandwiches I've ever had! Well worth the effort -- I make the onions and squash ahead of time and make these sandwiches all week!

I made this for a girl's weekend brunch on multigrain bread and everyone loved it. Excellent grown up grilled cheese!

This sandwich is totally perfect. My husband loves it and neither of us even noticed that it was a vegetarian dinner, really. The chili powder and maple syrup combo gives the squash an amazing savory-sweet taste and the almonds give it a great crunch. The onions always take me forever -- I wonder if maybe I'm not getting them sliced thin enough? -- but they're gorgeous when done. The hardest part is not eating the squash and onions before they make it into the sandwich!
