I haven't made this recipe yet, but I agree with most of the comments. Is there no one but Jeffrey who knows a spice other than salt and pepper? Salt is not healthy for us and it is way over used in our diet. You should have won, Jeffrey! Two other comments, there doesn't seem to be any way to e-mail Food Network with general comments ( I couldn't find it. I wanted to request that the chefs give directions on preparing their recipes ahead of time, how to store, reheat, etc.

After reading all of the reviews, I couldn't wait to try this soup. I love anything Asian. It took me 3 stores to finally find one that carried five spice. I decided to
make a double batch for freezing. All I could smell in my home was this overpowering smell of the five spice. I tried to eat some, but couldn't. I ended up throwing the whole pot out. I thought I put too much spice into the soup, so I watched the video again. I did use the right amount. This was the only recipe I have ever thrown out from Food Network and I've tried many. Because so many
loved the soup, it must be my taste buds.

OK, I kinda goofed. I had some boneless skinless chicken thighs and had recently watched these videos - didn't pull up the recipes but was trying to wing it. I used smoked paprika instead of Chinese five-spice powder and didn't make the soup. You know what, it still tasted great! I can't wait to try the rest of these recipes, and to try this one the way it's supposed to be. PLEASE give us more of this great guy's stuff!

I bought some five-spice a while ago but wasn't sure what to do with it. I am SO glad I found this recipe! It was easy, inexpensive, exotic and most of all, DELICIOUS! The whole family gobbled it up.

Spices are something that I would really like to explore in the future, and with Jeffrey's videos I am off to a great start. I'll be trying some of his other recipes soon.

4 stars for flavor, 5th star is for ease and speed of preparation. Any time I can cook a good meal this fast, the recipe is a keeper, and one I'll definitley use again and again (and for under $10! I wish Jeffrey had his own show......I'd like to learn more about his spices!

I loved the recipe. I watched the show on a friend's pc, went to the market picked up what I needed and made the dish while I watched the video again. Man I had no clue that you were on the site!! Ahh, I am so glad to see you again!

I can't wait to pick up some Chinese Five-Spice to try this recipe. I love watching his webcasts but he needs to be given his own show on TV. He has a such a great way of explaining the hows and whys. His show is definitely something I would tune in for as it would be different to anything else the FN is offering. I don't need another $10 meal show - there is no way I could cook for that price given where I live anyway - but I would love to learn more about cooking with spices.

I have had Chinese Five-Spice powder in my spice cabinet for more than a year, but had not used it. When Jeffrey spurred me to use this spice for the first time, I ditched the old and purchased new...and now I will be using it often. This recipe was delicious and different from anything I have ever made...it was so easy to prepare. Thank you, Jeffrey, for introducing me to this spice. I am so looking forward to trying all your other recipes on the foodnetwork website as they look wonderful...I will be trying them very soon. I certainly hope you soon have a spot on footnetworktv...there is so much I need to learn about all those different spices!
