I made this into a lasagna casserole instead of doing the open face and added tofu to the meat mixture - it was so delicious! My company raved about it!

A FRIEND RETURNED FROM HUNGARY AND BROUGHT ME THE REAL MCCOY, SMOKED PAPRIKA! I WAS GOING THROUGH RECIPES THAT WOULD MAKE THAT SPICE SING OUT AND FOUND JEFFREY'S. OUTRAGEOUSLY GOOD! STILL CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY FNN DID NOT HAVE THE FORESIGHT TO HIRE THIS GUY WHO BRINGS A NEW DIMENSION TO COOKING. I LOVE TO TRY NEW SPICES AND WOULD APPRECIATE KNOWING ABOUT THEM AND HOW TO USE THEM. HE WAS THE ONE WHO SHOULD HAVE WON! BUT, NOT TO LATE TO CORRECT YOUR MISTAKE, FNN!

I was looking for a simple but good recipe to make for a dinner with friends. This was easy to make and didn't require me being in the kitchen for a long time. I wasn't able to find the crushed Italian tomatoes so I made it with crushed tomatoes. I loved the different flavors in the dish. I also liked the cheese on top of the dish. I can't wait to make it again for family.

I was tired of those boring ricotta and sausage varieties. And quite frankly, I think my husband was even bored with our weekly dinner routine-- until I got a little daring. i flirted with the unknown-- something that could make my husband's nose curl up in a stinking expression of dinnertime failure. But fellow cooks, let me tell you it was worth it. At first bite, my beloved cocked his eye in an inquisitive nature and then the smile slowly spread across his face. He loved it and ate it in that messy fashion of a man consumed to paprika proportions.

He said, "Pass the olives and the sour cream. I think I'll dress this baby up."

It really didn't need it, but some men feel the need to tinker with the end result and make it their own.

This week we're using the left over sauce for enchiladas and pizza.

I finally made this and so glad I did. Yes the smoked paprika made the dish. When you hear judges talk about depth of flavors or layers this is a dish that really shows those qualities. The only thing I might do different is add a little more heat as we like food a little spicier. This is a new family favorite and so great!

Can't wait to try more of Jeffrey's recipes!

Thanks Jeffrey! This was fantastic! I made it without the sausage but still, unbelievable.
The second time I made it, I added mushrooms, basil, oregano and a little sugar. Near the end I even added some tomato paste to thicken it up a bit and added a little white wine.
Jeffrey WHEN will you be getting a show? The smoked paprika, I was never aware of before. It is such a great spice that can be used in so many other dishes. I plan on incorporating it into some chicken meals.
