1 pound ground turkey breast

1 cup chopped red onions

1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper

2 egg whites

1/4 cup chopped fresh watercress leaves

1/4 cup teriyaki sauce

2 tablespoons jerk seasoning

2 sprays canola oil cooking spray

6 whole wheat buns

1/4 cup reduced-calorie mayonnaise

1 large tomato, sliced

In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, onion, bell pepper, egg whites, watercress, teriyaki sauce, and jerk seasoning until well blended.

With clean hands, form the turkey mixture into 6 equal patties.

Heat a non-stick griddle (or large non-stick pan) over medium-high heat and spray twice lightly with canola oil cooking spray. Place each patty on griddle, in batches if necessary, and cook for 3 minutes. Flip burgers and cook for another 3 minutes. Alternatively, cook burgers on an outdoor grill for 3 minutes on each side. Remove patties from griddle (or grill).

Spread 1/6 of the mayonnaise over the bottom half of each bun. Place burgers on buns and top each with 1 slice of tomato and other half of bun.

My husband is not a turkey-burger fan, but since we're trying to watch our waistlines, we gave it a try, and I am THRILLED we... did. As the other posters suggested, either cut down the egg white or add b/w 1/4-1/2 c of bread crumbs-this is waaaay too wet (maybe because of the teryaki). The veggies were a nice touch, and the seasoning was perfect. We will definitely add this to our burger rotation!Read more

This burger was very good! it was a bit of a twist to add onion and pepper to the turkey burger but it was good. I only used... one egg and i didnt have jerk seasoning on hand so insted when the burgers were cooking i added a splash of woshtershire sauce and soy sauce on top of each burger. Delish! My family loved it and i will definatly be making these again!Read more

I really liked this recipe but made a few alterations. Because I like leftovers, I doubled the meat using 1 lb ground turkey... breast and 1 lb lean ground turkey. I did not double the remaining ingredients. I only added about 1/4 cup of finely minced red onion and used spicy steak seasoning instead of jerk seasoning. A nice way to satify a burger craving without all the fat and calories. This goes really well with Tyler Florence's Spicy Slaw. Read more

    Fantastic!

Wow, this Turkey Burger was much better than expected! I used green onions instead of the red onions, added some garlic and... worstershire. Also, the 2 egg whites was too much so I added some italian breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese to thicken it up. Served the burgers on whole wheat english muffins. This will definitely go into my cooking rotation!!!! So juicy and flavorful!Read more

    Very Good!

I love anything turkey it is trying to get my boyfriend on-board with it! I agree with some of the other reviews and should... of only used 1 egg white, I used 2 and it was very messy. I had to take some whole wheat bread crumbs (I keep heals of my favorite ww bread in the freezer for bread crumbs) and mix them in to thicken it up. Once I did that they were at the point I could make them into AWESOME patties! I did not use jerk seasoning, I used Red Pepper flakes instead. These burgers came out awesome on thickened up! My boyfriend loved them! I also made low fat french fries made in the oven and not in the deep frier!Read more
