Yummy! After seeing Trisha make this on tv, I had to try it. Made it this weekend with my 3 yr old sun as a surprise for his daddy, who also loved it. I used a bunt pan, since this is the only cake pan I had. Had to adjust the cooking time a bit to ensure it was cooked through. I also used regular limes since key limes are a pain to use. Everything turned out great, very moist, tart and sweet. Would definitely make this again.

I couldn't believe my eyes. It looked like a science experiment but I followed everything to the letter. I had not read the reviews before I made it, but like many others, it overbrowned and sank square in the center. Looked really wierd. As far as the taste, well I haven't gotten that far yet. I'm hoping it tastes better than it looks because it looks awful. Darn....and looked so pretty on the show. Oh well.

My mom made this for my birthday. She did a 3 tier layer cake. It turned out fabulous. When I was slicing the cake for our guests, I was a little stingy in their portions so I would have more to take home. I certainly enjoyed the different texture along with the tangy citrus flavor and creamy icing. Would definitely make for another occasion!

I saw Trisha's precious self make this on her program (my favorite and I HAD to have this recipe. Frankly, this cake is so yummy that I could stick my face in it and wash my hair with it! Now, THAT'S GOOD! I restrained myself though and served it to my family. Everyone loved it!

ALL of Trisha's recipes are awesome. Thank you!

This cake turned out great for me by following the recipe exactly. I tested the cake done with a toothpick after 30 minutes in a 350 degree oven. I did make the cake into a 3 layer cake and it looked beautiful. I kept the cake in the freezer and took it out only to cut off a piece for everyone and put it back in the freezer. The cake lasted longer being frozen and it really tasted good that way.

I thought it was delicious and I had NO problems. It came out perfect. The only thing that "bothered" me was squeezing almost 30 key limes to get the needed juice. Next time I'll use regular limes. I don't honestly think anyone will notice the difference. Thanks for a tasty, easy recipe.

Made this for a labor day party and everyone thought it was delicious. This recipe for "jello cake" has been around for years-It keeps moist for several days. I followed the recipe ingredients exactly (i.e. 3.0 oz jello and 1.5 cups of oil. The only thing I added was lime zest into the batter. I baked it in a bundt pan (used bakers joy, baked at 340 for about 35 minutes and put the glaze on the cake in the pan. Waited about 10 minutes and it came out perfect. Iced the top with the cream cheese icing. It was a hit-thanks Trisha!

Please don't try and make this cake for a special occasion! Like many other people commented, mine fell in the middle. Something is very wrong with this recipe. Sincerely, I have never had such a bad experience with a cake recipe. I had all the family over for a BBQ and special birthday, and ended up with a mess of a cake. I was embarrassed and very sad to present this cake to the birthday girl....unfortunately, there was no time to buy ingredients and make another cake. In my opinion, this recipe should be taken off the website. It sounds so good - but doesn't turn out that way. I don't know if it's the altitude - I live in Colorado - but found nothing in the written recipe to change for high altitude. I am an experienced cook and baker and followed the instructions perfectly. For so many people to have a failed experence, something is very off.
