Ingredients
  • 5 pounds ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons seasoning salt
  • 2 ounces steak sauce (recommended: A-1 Steak Sauce)
  • 3 ounces onions, finely chopped
  • 5 large hamburger buns
Directions

Preheat barbecue to 400 degrees F.

In a large bowl combine the ground beef, seasonings salt, sauce, and onions. Thoroughly mix all the ingredients together. Divide the meat into individual 1 pound patties.

Once the barbecue has reached 400 degrees F, place the patties directly onto the grill above the direct heat. Cook the patty on 1 side for at least 5 minutes, then turn the patty over and cook for another 5 minutes. Repeat this process for about 20 to 25 minutes or until desired doneness is reached.

We tried these three BBQ's ago and this is the way we make them every time. The onions get kinda crunchy and crispy and the flavor is out of this world. It totally enhances the smoky grill flavor. Can't wait for the 4th! Thanks Bobby Flay!
I use this recipe every time I want to make burgers for a large group. I always receive great feedback. I do like to add garlic salt instead of season salt.
My husband makes these yummy burgers, and they are fab! One change he made was instead of the seasoning salt, he uses Montreal Steak Seasoning. YES! He thinks he managed to mix up this recipe with something he saw Rachel Ray do? Who cares - it works try it! Also he uses A1 Think n Hearty.
Hands down the BEST burger ever! Works great with Elk too. Gets rave reviews at every BBQ we host!
I use 3 lbs. ground chuck and add 1 lb. or so of organic grass fed ground beef along with the rest of ingredients and they are spectacular! Our friends and family looove them!
I Love these burgers! They were great accept insteat of 1 pound burgers I made them 1/2 pound burgers, (and If you do that you want to remember to cut down the cooking time also.) These were so easy to make and I had all of my neighbors over too and they all loved them. Great recipe.
Is the steak sauce supposed to be mixed into the meat with the 'seasonings salt', or just added to the burger as a condiment? I chose another recipe for tonight's burgers, but will check back.
Good burger. May take a few times to get this one perfect. Good flavor - will make again for sure.
The burgers turned out fabulous. The kids said it was the best they have ever had. Most of all, it was simple to prepare.
every one always gives great comments over the burger. Guest say "it feels as if they just had a restaurante burger"
Simple and easy burger. I'd cut back on the salt though. 3Tbsps were a bit too much for my taste.
    So juicy, so tasty....
