I am not a big fan of fish tacos. I loved these. I made them with Tilapia and they were excellent. Instead of beer I used apple juice and made them gluten free.

Wanting to each more fish than we do, this recipe very much appealed to my husband. He recorded it from Ina Garten's show and made sure I saw it. I was never one for chipolte anything, but this recipe was awesome. Never had cod before either, so except for the mess, I really enjoyed these fish tacos and my husband has been raving all night about them!!!

Followed the recipe exactly accept I couldn't find chipotle puree so I pureed a can of chipotle peppers. I also heated the corn tortillas dry. I used Napa cabbage. Just found it to be missing something. Batter was not very crispy. Will not make again but would use the mayo for other things...................

Like Christine, I lived in San Diego for years and I know what she means about fish tacos being superior in S.D. (Rubios rocks!!
The mayo in this recipe is great but I took the reviews about the "cake-like" texture of the fish to heart and fried the cod by dipping in egg white then panko crumbs. Wow!! Crispy, crunchy and excellent. Use the mayo recipe because it's great, but use panko for the fish.

The sauce was delish, but just like a few other reviewers have said, the batter is very "cake-like" and not crispy. I would not recommend this recipe except for the chipotle sauce. Maybe try finding another batter reciepe that will yield a more crispy fish, and follow the rest of the recipe for the sauce/tortillas.

Not bad. But I will say that I did not follow the recipe to a t. We fry fish all the time so I did our nornmal cornmeal fry but I did dress the eggs up with everything else. The fish with the fry had a great taste. My hubby loved the dinner, I am just looking for a fish sauce that is more like Bonefish Grills Bang Bang Shrimp sauce and this one is not like it at all. It was good but not what I had in mind.
