I wanted to try this recipe because it looked more like Indian curry. I found this dish as Indian with american twist. Loved it! You need to add little more salt

We we so inspired after watching this episode. The combination of ingredients was so unusual and complex. Found Garam Masala in Woodman's Grocery-- smells heavenly. Followed the recipe to a T, doubled it, & left the skin on,, but next time I would make it with boneless chicken, which my friends and family seem to prefer, and which would make it much easier and neated to eat & reheat. I agree also about adding salt. Thie kitchen smells so good while this is cooking. Served with jasmine rice. : I will definitely make this again.

This was the second time I made country captain, the first being Bobby Flay's version after watching the TV episode. To me, it's a toss up which is better. This one has more spice and is sweeter from the carrots and all the sweet bell peppers. I was actually afraid the spice would be overpowering, but it wasn't at all. I did make serve it with Bobby's coconut rice, though. I can't get enough of that stuff (though the recipe's cooking time & amount of water are off.

Holy sh*t, thats my rating. This is one of those Holy Sh*t recipes that just make you say....WOW! I made it exactly as written. And it made my house smell so good. It is beyond savory and delicious. I can see why Bobby lost to these brothers. This recipe is just amazing. Pricey but delicious. SOOOOO good. Make it, tonight! : Your family is going to love it and make it a regular in your dinner recipe rotation! The only downer is it takes too long to cook and you have to smell it while you wait, counting the minutes until its done cooking.

I was totally inspired by Throwdown with Bobby Flay. I had a hard time finding Garam Masala, but found it in an ethnic store. I was very worried about this dish before I started...I wasn't to sure how it would turn out...now that I know...I would say...Its a wonderful blend of spices, sweet, heat, perfect!!! You should also make sure to add SALT!!! I followed the recipe to the T....and let me tell you...you will need more salt!!! I thought the dish was a wonderful blend of flavors!!! For sure one of a kind dish!!!

... I made it and OMG - it's better than you can imagine. The festival of flavors that dance in your mouth are just out of this world. I've eaten chicken fixed in every way you can imagine...I thought, and then this came along. Never heard of it before the Throwdown but it intrigued me. Made it this weekend and made the whole recipe. I live alone so today I brought the rest of the pan to work and I can't believe how much my co-workers love me now. (Funny, they never cared much for me before the Country Captain Chicken! I can't be too serious about this - it really is a party in your mouth. I've already pointed 3 people to this site to get the recipe (sorry Bobby... everyone wanted the winning recipe from that Throwdown and I expect to hear more about this fabulous meal from my friends and co-workers (which by the way just might be the same thing now... by the end of the week.

I had never heard of Country Captain until I saw it on Throwdown. After making a pot it moves high up my favorites list.

Thank you Lee Brothers! I made your recipe. I modified just slightly, as I used 9 big chicken thighs, instead of twelve and used one onion instead of two. I used currants and raisins mixed in my homemade chicken broth. I used a chunk of proscuitto with two slices of bacon. Otherwise, I followed the recipe to a tee. Wow, it takes the Gold medal in Vancouver in my books.
I love the Delta Blues and this meal matches my music. Now, if the Saints win tomorrow, I will be complete!

This recipe is like no other southern dish I've ever made or had, for that matter.
I did combine some of our own ingredients for the Garam Masala and may in the future roast my own, but even still it was a flavorful, aromatic delight. From the crispy toasted almonds and bacon chunks to the sweet stew of carrots peppers and onions...a homerun for sure!

    Enjoy y'all ;-
