I used this recipe and made little tarts for our ladies tea at our church. They were a huuuge... hit. Everyone wanted more and more. They told me I would have to make them again next year. Thanks Giada!!!!!!!

Giada, thanks for sharing this recipe. I make this lemon-mint cake w/out the mint. It is very very good! i've made it twice w/no problems. My family enjoys it! I enjoy this light dessert and it's not too sweet - it's just right! :

    Happy baking!

I made this cake tonight, however I used whole wheat flour and organic sugar and vanilla flavoring, frosted it with chocolate and it is so good! very moist my husband loves it. Will make again with lemon flavoring and glaze.

This was GREAT. But, I found myself at the time to eat the cake I didn't make the syrup. So, I had a box of instant lemon pudding made it up real fast and crumbled the cake in the pudding. Then I had leftover heavy cream and made whipped topping. Spooned into bowls and topped with the whipped topping and sprinkled lemon zest on top. Love the lemon flavor.

Oh my...this was my first attempt at baking and I nailed it! This cake was not only moist and tasty, but the syrup added a twist instead of using the usual (frosting. If you like lemon, this is for you, because its like a lemon exploding in your mouth.

I recommend this as a nice ending to any great meal, your guests will love it, I'm willing to bet your mother-n-law will like it too:

I followed the directions, but my cake was flat and I had to remake it. The second time I just whipped the egg whites alone and added the full cup of sugar to the other wet ingredients. Like other reviewers, I also noticed a difference between Giada's yellow simple syrup on the show and my thicker, more gelatin-like syrup. All in all though, it was delicious.

This cake has the perfect lightness and the lemon brightness just hits the taste buds just right. I put holes in the cake with a round toothpick while the cake was warm and then poured the simple syrup over the cake. That was a delicious twist.

I watched this episode on tv this past weekend and had to try it because I had all the ingredents in my kitchen already. I'm not a great cook or baker and I have to make things more than once for it to even come out right. AND...It turned out great! I think when I make it again it'll be perfect, this time I forgot to fold and blended in egg white mixture. But my husband loved it, at first he thought I bought it at the store and then asked why no icing? And I drizzled the syrup and he LOVED it! ! I love Giada's recipes.
I think this is a delicious quick recipe to entertain guest.
