I tried this recipe to see why it went over so well on tv, and was really surprised at how good it was. I learned a lot about cooking with hot peppers!
I didn't follow the recipe to the letter, however. I am allergic to mangoes, so used peaches.
I substituted a jalapeno pepper for the habanero, and only used 1/2 poblano pepper for the salsa, the other half for the beans. I thought it might have been too hot for my family, Next time, I will follow the recipe and use the right amount of peppers. The combination of sweet, citrus, and a little "kick" was really good.
I made Navajo Fried Bread instead of corn tortillas.
My family really enjoyed this recipe, I will make it again soon.
Actually, it was plenty of food for us, but we were wishing for more steak, it was just so good.
So far, you get my vote, Melissa!

I made this recipe the next day after watching the show, I followed it almost exactly. I just had a hard time finding those different peppers that the recipe called for, so I used regular peppers. I think its actually pretty good. if you never cut up a mango be careful because I messed up one not knowing how huge the seed is lol. I still cant give you advise on how to do it.. just peal it and don't try to cut it in half I guess. It honestly was pretty good. but I would not see it as a meal, a real good appetizer though.
