This was a HIT! Even my son-in-law (who doesn't like Yams ate it!
Everyone was wowed by "that other taste" (bananas. I did use extra spice in the strussel and used 1/2 regular graham crackers and 1/2 the new gingerbread kind to give it extra zing! I agree that 1 1/2 lbs of yams was not enough (3 pounds is more like it but will definately make this a staple for holidays! P.S. It was also excellent warmed up for breakfast this morning!

We had this today for Thanksgiving. I made this in place of my usual yam/orange juice/egg/butter/pecan casserole. For the first time in 31 years, my husband had THIRDS!! He always compliments me on my cooking, but this WOWED him. So easy to make. I prepared it the day before, but baked it right before we ate. I couldn't find whole whole or sliced almonds so I had to buy the last package of slivered almonds. I added walnuts and toasted all the nuts. I used cinnamon graham crackers, but still used the same amount of cinnamon. We LOVED IT. Gracias Marcela! This will now be a staple on our Thanksgiving table. It will also be my new "go to" dish for potlucks!

Delicious, but no way was 1 1/2 pounds of yams enough; takes more like 3 pounds. It was helpful to have seen Marcela layer the yams & bananas on TV to see how she "checkerboarded" them. Will make again!

Loved this recipe, I left out the middle layer of marshmallows by accident and since I don't own a food processor I did the mixing in my blender and it still came out delicious.

It was very easy to put together. Left out the nuts, kids have allergies, but we all enjoyed it. It was the only side dish gone. My mother-in-law raved about it. Thanks.
