    My husband for some reason was watching this recipe and made it, all I can say is it was AWESOME. Restaurant quality taste! The only thing I could add is that I don't know if the recipe called for too much black peppercorns or maybe he put too much but either way I loved it. He made with oven toasty salted-buttered bread and it was dee-lish.

    Let me begin by saying that I have never had butternut squash before. I bought one and searched for the perfect recipe to try. I'm not a big fan of sweet veggie recipes and most butternut recipes seemed to be sweet rather than savory. This was a perfect fit, I love spicy. This soup rocks! The chipotle cream is totally amazing, I can't wait to use it for multiple uses now that I've discovered this. I could care less if this is "authentic Mexican" cuisine, as seems to bother other folks, the simple fact is this is a wonderful, delicious soup. I added slightly more chipotle to mine, as I do indeed love things spicy. I'll be making this one again, it's lovely.

    Delicious just as it is, and I don't even like butternut squash. I'm making it for the second time today. On Thanksgiving I served it in tall shot glasses with a tiny dollop of the cream on top and served it as an amuse bouche. Everyone loved it.

    I absolutely never write reviews but this recipe COMPELS me to. I am sitting here eating the soup and absolutely love this recipe. Of COURSE it's easy to make little changes...that's the mark of a good basic recipe. I've made this a couple of times and it's delicious. I love the spices, flavor and texture. I've added a bit that makes it a bit more "mine"...roasted poblanos, a bit more garlic and some chipotles while the whole mess is simmering. We make a chipotle flavored mexican crema instead of using basic sour cream just because we like the texture. I'd consider tossing in some nice toasted pepitas but have not been ambitious enough to try...this is our favorite cold weather soup that I'll make time and again!! Yum.

    i am so in love with the flavor in this soup! I started with frying up some bacon lardons to add flavor. I sauted the veg in the bacon fat! YUMMY I deglazed with a splash of apple cider vinegar which also provided another flavor level!! Everything else I did as the recipe called for. The bacon,cider vinegar and chipotle make such a fantastic flavor combo!!!
