I totally enjoyed the flavor. I'm not sure what went wrong with the ones who didn't like it, but mine was excellent. Guess taste buds are different and that's not a bad thing. I will make this again and again!

I LOVE avocado and cilantro so I thought this recipe would be a homerun..... I was wrong, I read the reviews but thought I'd give it a try anyway since I have never tried something with avocado as the focus and not LOVED it! HOWEVER, the reviews are right....there is nothing to it! Extremely plain, I even tried different toppings to dress it up a little and give it some flavor (such as fresh tomato salsa, corn salsa, even a little black bean and rice mixture just to see if I could use it as a binding sauce...NOPE. It's sad, but please trust me when I say do not make this for a party or others without trying it yourself first! Judging by the reviews, you are either going to love it or hate it and I personally would be embarrassed to bring this dish to a party.... LOVE Marcela though, actually surprised this came from her :(

I have made this soup twice and making again today. It is a refreshing cool change on these hot summer days. I have added another pepper because I prefer it with a little more bite.

I wish I could agree with everyone else on this recipe. I found the soup to be very bland. I ended up throwing the entire batch down the drain. What a waste of avocados! I agree with Deborah...make guacamole instead!

This was a "hit" in our house! I also omitted the serrano chili, as I am not a fan, but we always have hot sauces in our home for those who like the spicy side. The flavor was even delicious when slightly warm. This was great with grilled shrimp, crusty bread, fruit salad, and homemade red sangria. Glad I put this one in my Recipe Box!

I brought this soup to a fourth of July party and it was a HIT!!! The recipe says it serves 6-8..I served 16 people in little shot glasses and people LOVED it! Just enough to get a taste and wanting them coming back for more. So many people wanted this recipe afterwards! It was perferct for a hot day in DC! Thanks Marcela!

I'm not crazy about avocado or cilantro. I don't have enough good things to say about this recipe and it was very easy. I'll be using this one a lot and thank you. Don Kane, Il 7-5- 10

Only having 1 avocado in the house, I adjusted the recipe using just one avocado. Omitted the serrano chili. It was great, my husband said the recipe is a keeper. I am looking forward to making this fantastic soup again!!!
