I've made this three times. My only tweak is adding vanilla to cake batter & the baking time, maybe its my bakeware, but first time it was still pretty raw after the hour. Had to put back in oven , 2nd time overcooked, 3rd time I nailed it. Needs at least 1 hr 20 mins in my oven. But that being said this is a winner. I love it, my husband's Mexican/Dutch family adores it too.

A co-worker made this for us and it was so delicious I asked for the recipe but it was not given out. I thought I will hunt for it and this is the best one I found. Your video was also helpful.
I want my friends and family to experience this wonderful taste treat. Thank you.

This is definitely not the traditional flan we love to order at restaurants. But its a different twist - especially with that chocolate cake. That cream cheese gives it a very thick texture which I'm not sure if I liked. I was looking for something with a thinner consistency. I liked the addition of pecans on top. All in all it was tasty, but just wasn't the traditional flan I was expecting or looking for....

This recipe was amazing! I am not easily impressed and am very picky about textures. This cake/flan is amazing! And the fact that the batters trade place adds to the wow factor. Although the recipe is perfect as is I like to experiment so I added a tablespoon of Vermeer Dutch! chocolate cream liquor to the flan batter. I also omitted the pecans (not a fan. Will definitely make over and over again!
