I tried this recipe and really liked it. I also added some shredded chicken. I think I will use a cast iron skillet next time to roast the veggies.

Excellent! Was simple and authentic. Topped with everything suggested including a squeeze of lime. The adobo (chipotle chili gave another wonderful smoky flavor. This soup will definitely become a staple in our family!

To cookingjulie, I watched this episode and she did not chop the vegetables. She put the tomatoes in whole, chopped the onions in half but cutting them in quarters works better. Whole chili whole cloves of garlic, roast until blackened. Rip tortillas apart put in blender as a thickener works great. Never made tortilla soup before but this is really good! Give it a try

This is the BEST quick soup EVER!!! My husband request this soup on a weekly bases. I even add different things to it sometimes to change it up like hominy, fresh cilantro, cumin or sometimes rice.
LOVE THE TASTE OF TORTILLAS IN THE BLENDER.

Simply delicous! I've made this soup about a dozen times and we love it! Make no changes except sometimes if I happen to have cotija cheese instead of fresco I used that and it's equally yummy! Thanks Marcella! Elvira Silva.

I love this recipe. My sister keeps asking me to make it again. I tape all her shows and have made quite a lot of her recipes. They never disappoint! Keep them coming!

I am from Mexico and THIS IS AN ORIGINAL MEXICAN TORTILLA SOUP!
I am glad Marcela cooks authentic and not TexMex --nothing wrong with that food but let's call things by their name!
