Delicious! Just like my mom makes it. I made this recipe twice already and took it to two parties and both times were a big hit. I also made the chocoflan and it was to die for! Actually, I have made several of Marcela's recipes and none have disappointed so far. Everything tastes delicious and authentic. Keep those recipes coming! I'm hooked. :

This is a wonderful recipe but I had to tweak it a little. The idea of using 7 cups of water (and straining all the excess seems unnecessary so, instead, I make 1 cup of raw rice as I normally do, with 2 cups of water. I also find the inclusion of an entire can of sweetened condensed milk way too sweet so I use about 1/3 c. of sugar.

I liked this recipe. It was basically very easy and a crowd pleaser. My only complaint was that I had followed the recipe directly off of the program and in the program it called for 2 cups of milk which made the timing way off in order to reach the desired consistency. After it was taking so long I went on line only to find that the recipe on line called for only 1 cup of milk. I wasn't sure then if the time was off or the quantity. In the end it came out wonderfully. I am going to make it again starting off with 1 cup of milk and see how that works out.

My husband (who is ALWAYS honest when it comes to my cooking, lol, good or bad RAVED about this rice pudding! It is better than his mother's he said! The hardest part was standing over the stove for 20 minutes while stirring constantly. Like other people who rated this recipe, I used 2 cups of milk, not 1 cup. You will not be disappointed with this recipe if you are looking for authentic. Thank you so much Marcela! Because of this recipe I've printed the Foolproof Mexican Rice and Chocoflan recipes and can't wait to try them! This rice pudding really is AUTHENTIC mexican rice pudding. Thank you FoodNetwork!

I never did it before and this was the first time and it came out awesome! Ingredients are practical and easy to do ! I just used 1/2 of the milk sweetner - not the whole can. Thanks Marcela!

I just made arroz con leche for my family. WOW it is AMAZING! It is the same way my mother used to make. I experimented alot and for some reason i could never make it like my mom's. Thank you Marcela for bringing a childhood favorite back. It is a little soupy but as I let it cool and put in the refigerator it thickened up. I personally would not change anything in the recipe just follow it like it says and trust your insticts when it come to cooking.

I've been looking for a rice pudding recipe and this is it. I broiled the pudding for a few minutes to get a nice brown topping and afterwards added carmelized bananas to the top.
