These were tasty and melt in your mouth. However, my family is Cuban and this is not what we call Polvorones (the Polovornes we grew up with were a Crisco/sugar cookie with guava in the middle so I was disappointed LOL

my family has been making these for years and years. we are italian and we make them in the shape of a ball and call them "butter balls". they are great even frozen :

Wonderful buttery cookies. I didn't have walnuts, so I used pecans and they are a blast from the past!! I'll be making these every year.

Our family has been making these cookies for 40 years! This recipe is more than delicious...it is decadent! The richness of all the walnuts packs the cookie with flavor, but the buttery texture makes it melt in your mouth. If I make no other Christmas cookie, I make this one...simple to make, not too many ingredients, and everyone craves them too.
