I watched Marcela make this on her show and became intrigued by the use of the tequila. Totally didn't work for me, but the chorizo with the clams is an awesome addition. Since so many others liked the tequila, I say try it once, but if doesn't work for you, simply add white wine instead, but keep the other ingredients.

These are the best. I have made them for guests 3 times and get raves. Very easy to make and a really good use of chorizo.

Love this recipe... I am mexican too and have a hard time finding chorizo in Syracuse, NY.. So my husband & I made our own... He is Italian and use to make Italian sausage with his dad & still has his grinder to made from his restaurant days. I am in heaven... This was made for fathers day and a keeper!

This was the best steamed clams dish I have ever had. Being Mexican like Marcela, I did use tequila and the flavors were awesome! I made the same dish again the next night and ivited serveral friends. Everyone Loved it and asked for the recipe. Off to Mexico to get more clams!! I will try adding lemon juice at the end to see what that does. Thank you!

Great flavors! I heeded others' advice and used less tequila - 2-3 tablespoons, and the balance was perfect. I also took the advice of adding lemon juice at the end, and that paired nicely. I did not add the clam juice since I did not have any, and used a fourth of the butter. I also subbed soy chorizo from Trader Joe's, as its taste is superb. This served 3 with various sides.

ok! i was so excited to make this recipe for my husband....but the tequila was way to much. the smell made me sick to my stomach. i ended up rinsing out the clams and adding salsa to it. i think next time i will use wine instead of tequila

Really, really good! Didn't use tequila, instead used white wine. Followed the directions to the T. The only recommendation I would say is make sure to scrub the clams well and once you serve the dish spray a lot of lemon juice on it-it brings out the flavors a lot more!!! Great, and tasty dish!!!
