This was awesome! I made this last night and my husband and I LOVED it! I did take the advice for using Ritz crackers (22 crackers instead and it was perfect! I will definitely be making this for my upcoming birthday this month!

5 years ago we had a cake in Mexico that we loved. We had selected a "strawberry cheese cake" and it wasn't at all like cheese cake but it was wonderful. I have never been able to figure out what it was but when I saw this I thought I had found it. I made it yesterday and this was it. It was great.

A couple notes: 1. Cut the cookies back to about 10oz (i used 2 x 4.9oz Gamesa Marias 2. Divide the batter between two pans and make two layers, with frosting and strawberries between and on top. That was how it was served to us in Mexico

I made this yesterday for dessert and it was great. I also thought the amount of cookies was perhaps too much so I looked at other recipes on line and ended up using 22 Ritz crackers instead of the cookies and it was perfect. This was a very fast and easy recipe and looks is very pretty.

Delicious with a beautiful presentation, but I think the amount of Maria cookies in the recipe is too much. I used about 10 oz. and realized it did not look like the TV version. Next time I will use less, 7 or 8 oz. should be about right.

Loved it!! I could only find 7 ounce packages of Maria's cookies so bought 2 and used all of them. It was too much I think. Next time I'd use less cookies or more egg whites. But flavor was incredible and will be making for family next time. We topped with strawberries and blueberries. Delicious!!! Love watching MME and trying out Marcela recipes.

Hi, thank you for sharing this recipe with us, this is a very popular dessert in Mexico and after several attempts I came down to my own recipe instead of using maria crackers I have used ritz crackers and the texture and saltiness of the crackers adds an amazing contrast flavor against the sweetness of the strawberries and frosting is delicious, thank you for having her as a Food Network chef I love her recipies....:
