I, too, think the porportions are wrong in the recipe. My mom, who lived in south Texas for years, used the recipe on the back of the Controy bottle ~ that's the Mexican orange liquor she mentioned and it is very good. Unfortunately they don't export it. That recipe calls for 2 parts tequilia, 2 parts orange liquor (I often split that between Controy and Grand Marnier for a real treat and 1 part lime. The sparkling water would make it less potent if drinking it on the rocks, but it makes a great frozen margarita without adding the seltzer. And if you want a martini~type drink, it also makes a fabulous straight-up margarita without the seltzer.

I, too, watched this tv show but stepped out of the room when Stephanie did this. Rest assured the proportions as listed in this recipe are WRONG! Unfortunately, I would love to have a pitcher recipe with good proportions,. However, the tip that I gleaned was to use club soda. I might try a lemon or orange LeCroix carbonated water with mine - instead of some cheap sweet and sour mix. Or perhaps these margaritas need a little simple syrup as listed in a review below?

I liked the way Stephanie introduced the recipe--she said something along the lines of how important the proportions for this recipe were--with a look that said, "you put in however much of each you want!" Great show!

(Im giving this 5 stars so as not to wreck the rating anymore than it already is. I watched this on TV today and taped it, but alas, I deleted it and cannot review this recipe to the point. However, I DO remember it was NOT a bottle of tequila, it was about a cup...on the show, Bobby was kidding his wife by asking her if she was going to put in the whole bottle of tequila....she gave him a look that said this was not the case, she poured in some, not all of the bottle. She also said you can use Triple Sec, which is what I have handy, so I do remember that too. Start slow with the tequila, add the other ingredients in more abundance. If the show has a re-run, which many of these shows do, I'd recommend watching it again for more precise info....rest assured, the recipe is not correct as written!

This was terrible! WAY too strong. I can't help but think that something was misprinted here.

I agree with Delwin - this recipe is just making a margarita shot. I swear there were more ingredients than this when i watched this episode...and I'm pretty sure she added more seltzer water than this calls for. Perhaps if you add 1 to 2 cups of simple syrup instead of seltzer water, and then add an entire 2 liter of seltzer water...? But otherwise no. This was AWFUL.

I adjusted from an entire bottle of tequila to 1 cup, 1/2 cup cointreau, and 1/2 cup of fresh lime juice. The seltzer or club soda adds a great fizz. I added just a tad of confectioner's sugar as it was a bit too tart for me. Great recipe, just needed some tweaking.
