This is so delicious! My son & I made this bread this morning for a school project on "food from our ancestors". Unfortunately, after slicing the bread I realized it was not cooked all the way...still a little dough-y in the middle. I took the slices and baked them on a cookie sheet at 325* for about 20 minutes longer. It made wonderful little toast slices for the kids in his class! Even toasted, it's great all by itself...and really really great with butter! Thanks...this is the only Irish Soda Bread I'll make again...but I will probably divide it into two loaves or cook a little longer. YUM!!

I made this recipe for my sewing group to help celebrate St. Patrick's Day this week. It was wonderful, the ladies said it didn't even need butter. Needless to say, there was only a few slices left for me to take home. I added a 1/2 t. of nutmeg to the recipe instead of the caraway seeds.

This has quickly become the holy grail of breads in our household. And the caraway seeds are a must, not an option.

I had never baked bread before, and this was possibly the most delicious bread I ever had. The raisins put it over the top.

I have spent years looking for a recipe that came close to my Grandpas and I found one. It is just like his and it brought back the years spent with him on St. Patty's day. Thank you so much for bringing back my wonderful child hood as a young Irish American.

Easy, simple recipe. Nothing spectacular, nothing wrong with it. Just Irish soda bread.

I used golden raisins. Beautiful loaf of bread but crumbly in the middle - perhaps I cooked it too long?

I made this for the first time this week. It came out perfectly.
It was a little more cake like than the soda bread I'm used to but it made for a nice change.
I would definately make this again.
