I had to go online to get this because I misplaced my recipe...it was difficult to get again, and I almost had a heart attack! I make this soda bread every year, it's been five (I think years now. It's tasty, never dry or bland like some breads. Even if you've never kneaded, you should try this, it's really easy. I always made two, and sent some to my dad. He passed away in October, and I'm dedicating my baking to him this year. I skip the caraway, and it's still great...enjoy!!

This is the best soda bread I've ever had. I made it to serve with this St. Pat's dinner & it was a big hit. I sprinkled the caraway seeds over the top before baking. I had to add a splash more buttermilk because the dough was too dry & baked it about 10 min. longer. It tastes best when served warm with a little butter. Would definitely make it again. I thought it would make a good breakfast snack but I didn't care for the "next day" taste & texture.

I work with Peter in New Canaan and he makes it for us every year. This is a great recipe. I make it at home now, too. The funny part is I always that Marilyn O'Reilly was his mom!!!
