I made this recipe a few years ago for Thanksgiving. Everyone, young and old, loved these peas. They have become part of our Thanksgiving tradition. My sons ask for them often for a weeknight dinner.

My family raved about these peas. We all thought they were delicious an so unique. I totally disagree with the disharmony of flavor comments from the other reviewers and I can hardly wait to have guests over to serve these and soak up the compliments!!

I found bags of beautiful shelled fresh peas at the market and was excited to try this. Too bad I wasted the whole bag of peas. I found this to be very discordant -- the tangy sweetness of the tomato paste clashed with the earthy sweetness of the peas, which in turn clashed with the caramel sweetness of the onions, all of which clashed with the chili flakes. No amount of sitting helped the flavors meld. I hated to let the peas go to waste, so I eventually ate it all, but it wasn't a fun experience.

    A Delicious & Versatile Recipe!
It really goes great with almost anything!
This goes great with a veggie stuffed cannelloni/manicotti/lasagna, meatballs,
rustic Italian, peasant bread, & red wine.
At Christmas, I substitute pearl onions for the spanish onion & add roasted chestnuts (maroons. And, of course, all the other fixins'.

Beautiful, lovely and as close to the perfect way to use frozen peas that I've ever found. Especially good with grilled or lightly pan-fried chicken or turkey. Simple, yes. Delicious -- absolutely!
