Years later, I find myself agreeing with the first poster: the amount of flour is way, way off. It is, therefore, necessary to persist in adding it until the dough is not sticky. This does dilute the orange additive however. The donuts did come out fine as per second poster. Had no problem with the rises. So, recipe gets a 5, ingredient list gets a 1. 5+1/3 for final score.

I think there is an error in the ingredient list. The amount of flour appears to be WAY off.
There is another recipe for potato doughnuts (from Mario and it has half the wet ingredients and *4 times* the flour.
Seems like the editors missed an obvious mistake.

I actually liked these. I'm a fan of potato pancakes so I tried these donuts. They were a bit different but had a great texture and everyone liked them. My older Italian family members remembered them from their childhood. You have to use fresh yeast and make sure the milk is not hot, just warm to the touch. If it doesn't foam up then it won't rise. The yeast needs to grow. Mine rose nicely. The donuts were not fluffy, they're heavier than normal dough donuts, but they were very good.
