My favorite recipe in this trio of dishes is the Pickled Cauliflower and Carrots. I also added radish slices (the Asian kind is teriffic and much easier to prep than the American kind.

I made the anitpasti. It went over great with my company and family. I got compliments and it was a tough group.
I had not planned on making the anitpasti, but I saw the show and just happened to have the ingredients. I do not normally buy red peppers because of the price. But I just happened to have grabbed them because they were on sale for the same price as green peppers the day I went shopping. Yes, I know that sort of price deal is not every day, but it does happen. I always stock up on cheap olives when they are on sale, so I had them also. The marinade did make the ordinary olives special. The pickled carrots were the biggest surprise. Great, simple and talk about cheap. If you peal your own carrots, you can hardly come up with any guest worth item for less.
Some people need to get over the $10 thing people. The $10 is if you buy stuff on sale and in season. Stop acting like you have been robbed because you did not get your red peppers or other item on sale. Even full price it is great food that is accessible and affordable to the average person. Leave your person issues out of it. Sandra's Money Saving Meals recipes do not get this kind of bashing for her similar claims made on her show. Sandra claims on the air down to the pennies how much stuff costs.
For me, I love it that Melissa has a show that has affordable food that is nice enough that I could serve it to company. Even if you do not want to wait for the ingredients to go on sale, it is still an affordable nice meal. I like many of Food Network shows. I like the fun of watching a chief make truffle devil eggs, lobster, or some other expensive item. I am glad that there is also a show that has food that I can afford to make that still feels nice.
The anitpasti was great and affordable. Even more affordable if you buy your ingredients on sale.

I made the roasted bell peppers and marinated olives for a dinner party. What a success! Melissa's ideas are so creative and her recipes are so accessible. Her show is fun to watch.

Give her a break. Melissa's show is great. I record it every Sunday and have never tried one of her recipes that I did not love. I really enjoy Melissa's presentation and the way she tries to use ingredients that make preparing meals easier. Some chefs use 20 different ingredients, 3/4 of which I would have to go out and purchase. ( I don't have the money or the inclination to do that. Keep up the good work, Melissa.

So fresh, crisp, colorful, easy and delicious. I added marinated artichoke hearts and mushrooms to this recipe and served it with leftover "city chicken" and crusty bread. A tasty feast!

Some people (Yes, you need to stop making it your life mission to post negative comments about Melissa's recipes or the cost or whatever. Surely there's something more productive you could be doing with your life (Get a job, work harder at your job, clean a bathroom, write a book, whatever than trolling on a recipe comments board.

I truly wish I had enough time in my life to troll around Food Network and smack down recipes I didn't like, for whatever reason.

Based on how well we've liked everything else we've tried from Melissa's show, we'll try the grilled mushroom pizza. As a working parent, using the ready made pizza dough would help me get dinner ready quickly on days I work late.

Fabulous recipe! I enjoy antipasti platters only when we go out for Italian. Jarred just never tastes right. I don't like the preservatives. Melissa your recipe is Excellent! I never thought to make this from scratch. Easy! I made this recipe today, turned out fabulous! Fresh, crunchy, delicious. Love your show Melissa! P.S. I made the grilled mushroom pizza for my husband for breakfast yesterday, a hit! I get tired of eggs for breakfast and felt comfortable that I was serving my husband protein, calcium, vegetable (I added fresh basil from our garden. If I would have had to make my own pizza dough it would have never got down. Thin store bought dough worked beautifully! Thanks again! Hope you don't mind if I share your recipe!
