Everything I have seen you make is something great and something I could do for my family. I just hope that you are not restricted to the price theme in the recipes you share with us. I am anxious to benefit from your time living in France and the things learned there. FOODTY has a real gem in you. I see you as a combination of Sara Moulton, Paula Deen, Rachel Ray, with a splash of Julia Childs' love of Frence cuisine.

My daughter and I rushed home after church since you come on @ 12:30 and we couldn't have been more pleased with your show! We were having company that night and the temps were in the mid 90s so we decided right then to try your Granita. We didn't have maple syrup in the house either and also chose honey! It was so simple and much lighter than icecream! We will be using this a lot! Thanks again Melissa and congrats! We pulled for you from the very 1st day!!!!! Sheri Hale Oriental, NC

my mother and I are thrilled that melissa won food network star! My mom has NEVER made a pie crust in her 57 years of life and she was inspired by Melissa's ease and comfort in the kitchen! It turned out wonderfully and she has made all of Melissa's recipes on this episode and they were delicious! This dessert was EASY and fun! Not to mention yummy. The 10 dollar meal theme, is a little disappointing though. That title/theme just doesn't fit. The original theme was so much better! But, keep Melissa coming! We love her!

As much as I love watching The Food Network and as good and easy as some of the receipes appear, this is the first one I actually have ever made.
Sooooo easy and delicious too!!! It was nice to have almost all of the ingredients
on hand. I rooted for you on the Next Food Network Star and am so happy you
won. Please keep the easy and especially economic recipes coming.

Made this dessert last night when my daughter and her boyfriend came over unexpectedly. It was quick and easy and delicious! Everyone loved it, and my daughter, who rarely cooks, asked for the recipe. I really don't even care for applesauce, but I love, love, love this granita. Yum! Thanks Melissa, and can't wait to see more of your shows and easy, delicious recipes. Your potato torte is the next one we are trying.

Melissa is a great cook. Why, oh, why, FN are you making her cook, so called, $10 meals? This recipe is a disaster, but it had to fit in her budget. We made it last night and I served it to my girls this morning--it's very hot here--but they did not like it. The yoghurt sauce was very good but the applesauce granita? Well, it just tasted like apple sauce. I had to agree. Maybe the meal was $10, but I just wasted all my money on this dessert.

I don't blame Melissa; she was given a task and had to come up with something.

QUESTION: if Jeffrey had been chosen instead of Melissa, would you have asked him to cook $10 meals? why are you, FN, assuming that the home cook wants such a limited menu? An occassional $10 show would be welcome, but not a format for a whole series, not with this talented and appealing cook.

I am a fan of Melissa'sm and was really glad she won TNFNS. I wish her knew show offered her more lattitude because I think the Ten Dollar Dinner theme is limiting and doesn't allow her to show viewers the full range of her knowledge and talents. Nonetheless, I thotoughly enjoyed the first episode and have already tried the cafe salad (perfection- the addition of soy sauce really enhanced the flavor of a standard dressing. I also tried to the applesauce granita and loved the resutls. Contrary to the recipe's guidance, I did use non-fat greek style yogurt, and used fig and ginger preserve I had on hand instead of the maple syrup. The greek-style yogurt made the result like a creamy topping instead of like a sauce. Tasting the granita with the yogurt produced wonderful flavor and mouth feel- cool and refreshing, very much like an ice cream without any fat. This is a definite keeper recipe, and had encouraged me to try more and more of Melissa's recipe's. As others have said, I hope Melissa will do more Parisian/French recipes, and would love to see a cookbook featuring them (again, without the $10 limitation. Melissa has inspired me to get back in the kitchen, and for that I am truly greatful!

I have seen many granita's made on TV, but have never been compelled to try one until now. The simplicity of apple sauce from the pantry is perfect for my new busy life with my 8 month old baby. It looks so easy, how could you not make it?
Your first show was amazing. It seems like you have been on TV forever. I love your warmth and excitment and can't wait to see more of you. I am in love with France, so please keep those Parisian dinners coming. Congratulations on winning, I knew you would.

Fast, easy, and refreshing. I had all the ingredients on hand and made this immediately after watching your show. We had it for dessert that evening and it was delicious! I'll be making this one often.
