My 7 year old made this for snack tonight and it was a huge hit in our house! He used honey instead of the syrup since we didn't have any. It took about 2 hours to freeze completely before he could scrape the granita. Tasted like a frozen apple pie, which was so refreshing since the temps were in the 90s today. We will definitely make this again!

Melissa is a breath of fresh air for the Food Network. She is the best thing to come along in a long time.
I made this recipe yesterdayfor company, and the raves and compliments were outstanding. I can't wait to try out all of her recipes.
Her first show was fantastic, and I wish her so much love and success. She makes her recipes with love and family and friends in mind.
Melissa, you have many fans in Colorado!
Fondly,
Mrs. Dorian Fabrizius

I have not tried this yet but can not wait to make it. It sounds devine. I am glad that it is now posted and am very sorry to see the "green rice" one gone. I really was eager to try it. Should have gone ahead and put it in my recipe box last night. Funny how a couple of people can ruin good things for others.
I don't know if you will ever see this.....I sure hope so. This is the only way I know to express how terrible I felt last night as I sat and read reviews from your first show. How can some people be so mean spirited? I love food network and am always eager for the new cooks to have their new show. Some I love, others I don't care for.....so guess what ?? I just don't watch them. I know there are other people out there who don't like the same cooks I like. News flash!!!!! This is why we have a variety of cooks, to meet everyones likes. ( good work, Food Network! What difference does it make to anyone whether you are a stay at home Mom. If you are or are not, how does that play on your cooking or show??? Another news flash, there are not any NEW recipes, just new ingredients, cut fat and sugar. Remakes and put "my personal touch" on oldies. Like Rach on 30 minute meals often says "put a new spin on, reinvent an old classic etc."
In my opinion, these ugly, mean spirited people don't like themselves, so how can they see anything good in the world where they live. No one is holding a gun to their heads and making them suffer through watching you or anyone else. If the food has too much fat, sugar or salt for you, don't make it. How simple is that solution? Oh but then we wouldn't have anything to make ourselves miserable over, would we???
Good Luck Melissa and just remember....Concider the source and how unhappy they must be, to attack you for no purpose other than to try and make you as miserable as they appear to be.
