My family and I really loved this lasagna! The sauce was great and the bechamel sauce gave it a richness that other lasagna recipes miss. The only thing I changed was to add another 1/2 lb of ground beef. Yum!

WE LOVE THIS!!! My husband, a chef, says this is one of the very best lasagnas he has EVER had. I did double the meat to 1 lb., added mushrooms, cut the cinnamon in half, and omitted the water completely. I made the lasagna in the morning and refridgerated it until it was baked at dinner time. The bechamel takes this dish from ordinary to extraordinary! Although I thought the cheddar cheese was sort of weird, it was a must. Delicious AND inexpensive!!!

This is a good lasagna! However, I do believe each cook will need to tweek it just a bit to fit their personal taste. I prepared it according to Melissa's recipe (except I used 2% cottage cheese and I'm happy with the outcome. I used maybe only 1/4 cup extra water to swoosh out the jar and I sprinkled that on the bottom of the lasagna pan. If I make it again, I will prepare a day in advance. Also, my store-brand noodles came with more than 9 in the package -- I'm going to break 'em and use all of them. They will sop up the excess moisture if that is a problem for folks.

I absolutely loved the Oven Ready noodles! They were cooked perfectly! However, there was a little too much liquid leftover when the lasagna was done. And next time, I'll only add about half of the cinnamon. It was delicious, but slightly too much for my family. Definitely yummy, but not one of my favorites. And it tastes sooooo much better the next day!

This may be my new fav lasagna...the bechamel really adds a great layer of flavor and as much as I love the Neelys, the poster below is WRONG becuz their lasagna does not have bechamel...sure it has cheddar but it's NOT the same recipe; so quit trashing Melissa, she's much more a star & fun to watch than Claire (who has now taken the Neelys' time slot...I'm not thrilled abt. this!!.

I added 1/4C parmesan to the bechamel & it tightened up a bit better. Didn't put the water in the bottom of the baking dish.
Otherwise, followed the recipe exactly and intend to make it again this week. It's even better warmed up the next day!!!

The bechamel sauce in this recipe reminded me of the Greek dish moussaka, so I made the lasagna with ground lamb instead of ground beef. The cinnamon and nutmug went perfectly with the lamb. I see that several reviewers thought there was too much liquid. I didn't have that problem but that may be because I let the lasagna rest overnight in the fridge. I did have a problem getting the bechamel to thicken up and had to add additional flour mixed with water to get the consistency I wanted. I will make this lasagna again but next time I'll double the meat sauce and reserve the "second half" to pour over the top when I serve the lasagna.

Since too much liquid seemed to be a theme on this post I ommitted water and wine. Also used 1 lb ground beef and 3 slices of bacon, draining the pan before adding sauce. I will probably add 1/2 beef and 1/2 italian sausage next time.
Thought this was a very good dish. Looking forward to the left-overs tomorrow.

I made this for my husband, three boys and my brother and it was devoured. I personally did not care for the cinnamon and will not use it again, but it didn't bother anyone else. Even my super picky 14 year old ate every last bite.. I will definitely make this recipe again. It is the first time I have ever used the Bolognese style of a béchamel in my lasagna and I really loved it. (btw... I looked up the Neely's Mama's recipe and it is not even close, other than the fact that it is also a lasagna..

Tasty. Didnt use cinnamon. And BLAZEDOG should be ashamed of himself/herself for being so critical. And writing something negative just to offset ratings is just so wrong and mean. I feel sorry for him.
